The Process
The initial appointment will consist of your impression being taken with a material called alginate. We use a high quality alginate which is kind to the skin and suitable for babies from birth. We mix the alginate at different ratios to ensure the tiniest details are captured. We ensure the mixture is warm which is important for both your comfort and setting time. You should be in the mold for no longer than 1-2 minutes while it sets.
Once you have left, we will fill your mold with plaster and it will then be left to dry. We know this wait can be agonising however this is the most important part of the process. Casts that are sealed and painted when still wet will not last, and over time will grow mould.
We then refine your cast before sealing and airbrushing it. We choose to airbrush our casts with lots and lots of layers of very fine paint, as we feel this is the best way to keep all those fine details.
Style
Styling your piece is an important stage. We have the choice of 4 antique finishes to choose from. Those being
Platinum
Bronze
Copper
Elegance
We give the piece an antique finish as this really enhances all the fine detail.
If your item is to be framed, you will also have a choice of frame colours along with a vast choice of coloured mounts and backboards. We also provide a choice of name plaques.
Marble bases, which can be engraved with words or verses, can be added as optional extras on our freestanding sculptures.
